Objective:

Project introduction:

The Changyuanhe river is in Qixian, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, in North and Middle China and become the main axis of the project, both by its cultural and ecological important for the country. In the past, there were large areas of marsh wetlands along the river, which can regulate and enrich the ecological diversity with good water power. Today the contrast between the upstream natural area (which is still well preserved) and the downstream area (which is dry for four months of the year) is astonished. The project aims to afforest the 30km river corridor and help Qixian develop a new sustainable development model.

In order to restore its original biodiversity, the following actions have been taken:

-  Restore the shape of the river

 - Restore the natural habitat of biodiversity

 - Restore the stream habitat corridor connectivity and manage water systems

 - Restore the coastal vegetation corridors and buffer zones

 - Establishment of reserve boundary

 - Set up a fire control system

 - Construction of scientific facilities

 - Construction of natural footpath wildlife observation platform and bicycle lane

- Construction of Ecological Museum

 - Botanical garden to protect local resources

- Provide communication and education materials for tourism development

 - Ecotourism strategic plan

 - Organize communication activities

 - Country house

 - Restore the whole network and other tourism facilities of the 14km old road

 - Construction of wetland sewage treatment

 - Waste disposal

 - Energy saving system
