Objective:

The study also aimed at enhancing the wider understanding of the significance of pollination services to the mountain agricultural economy. Institutional capacities at provincial and national level needed to be strengthened to promote honeybee pollination management.

Lessons learned:

The quantitative assessment was vital for increasing the understanding of the need for management and conservation of pollinators as an essential part of agricultural policies and plans. The recognition of the value of pollinators to agricultural productivity for the major crops led to the development of pollination enterprises and extension services and ultimately enhanced apple farming practices.
